The Week in Tech: Reddit’s bid to become a search player and Google jabs at Apple
Marketing Week’s weekly round-up of the technology stories that impact the marketing sector: from AI to martech, regulation to public perceptions.
On the agenda…
Reddit has seen its fair share of success over the past year or so. The social media platform successfully negotiated deals with Google and OpenAI to share Reddit data for AI training, has seen its active users boom and grown its nascent ads business into a channel marketers are paying attention to.
No wonder, CEO Steve Huffman was bullish as the business posted revenue of $500m (£376m) – up 78% – in its second quarter results – with advertising revenue hitting $465m (£349m) – up 84%. Daily active users have grown by 21% to 110.4 million people. Undoubtedly impressive results from the online forum business, which has carved out a successful niche for itself early on in the AI search revolution.
