VodafoneThree unveils first joint campaign since merger

Vodafone and Three will each have their own assets as part of the campaign, which come together under the ‘Two networks are better than one’ tagline.

VodafoneThree has launched its first joint campaign since the two mobile networks merged earlier this year.

The campaign, titled ‘Two networks are better than one’, looks to highlight the benefits customers are already receiving from both brands, including more coverage, faster speeds and fewer not spots.

Vodafone and Three both have their own assets that echo the distinct personalities of each brand, but with the same end message that two networks are better than one.

Three ramps up ‘single-minded pursuit’ of brand strategy

Three unveils its side of the campaign first. The ad, by Wonderhouse Studios, focuses on the connection between two people and life’s small moments, such as sharing memes or waiting for a crush’s response with a friend.

Vodafone UK will debut its side of the campaign on 12 September. Developed by Leo UK, it will feature existing brand ambassador Roman Kemp and focus on similar moments of connection, such as a father and daughter livestreaming a dance and old friends playing a chess match online.

Three’s ads will run across TV, VOD and cinema, whereas the Vodafone activity will run on YouTube and TV.

Maria Koutsoudakis, chief brand officer at VodafoneThree, describes it as a “very exciting chapter” for Vodafone and Three.

She says: “As millions of our customers are already starting to enjoy the benefits of the combined networks, we moved at pace to bring a campaign which highlights the everyday moments that depend on a strong network coverage, while bringing the personalities of both brands to life across the country.”

The campaign message will also come to life through a series of out of home activations from 15 September, featuring both brands side by side in conversation with one another.

Media planning and buying for Vodafone and Three was handled by Carat and Zenith, respectively.

The combined brand is now the UK’s largest mobile network operator serving the fixed and mobile market, after the deal was completed in June this year.

Shortly after, VodafoneThree announced an £11bn investment plan to improve its network and create more jobs.

VodafoneThree is now working to eliminate 4G dead zones and expand 5G coverage across the UK.

So far, the brand reports that 7 million Three customers have seen their 4G speeds boosted by an average of 20%, with some up to 40%.
