On the agenda…

Content moderation is in an interesting place. Brands increasingly don’t want to hire people to do it, while regulators are demanding better controls are put in place to protect minors and the population at large.

We’ve seen Meta completely overhaul its approach to content moderation (not necessarily for the better), while Elon Musk’s X seems to have abandoned the concept altogether. Now it’s TikTok’s turn to have a crack at it.

The BBC reported late last week (22 August) that TikTok had put “hundreds” of jobs that moderate which content appears on the social media platform at risk. The plan being to relocate its remaining content moderation team to Europe and let AI handle the rest.
